For Max "Chain" load range 3750 lbs to 6170 lbs -- this is the load seen on 1 part of the chain in a multi-reeved chain hoist with a "dead end" non-moving portion. The full load of the hoist is the number of falls of chain multiplied times the full load on 1 fall of chain (chain load). Take full load in lbs and divide by the number of falls of chain to get the chain load at 100% full load.
The LL17c is the third of three sizes in the series.
- Max chain diameter .44"
- trip setting: 3750 lbs to 6170 lbs 1 fall CHAIN LOAD; (2800 Kg)
- 2-5% full load accuracy or better.
- Chain load is not the tonnage of the Hoist. It is the part of the load seen on one "fall" of chain on a multi-reeved chain hoist with at least one of the chains stationary (dead end). Please multiply the # falls of rope times the rope load setting to obtain total trip lbs point for your hoist.
- When tripped the N/C (normally closed) contact opens in your UP direction allowing only DOWN motion to correct an overload.
RELIABILITY FOR HOISTS
The LL chain hoist load limiting device adds a new level of reliability to chain hoists. It can be adjusted to trip the up direction of the hoist motion upon reaching a pre-determined set point (set in field or ideally at ISI with the preset option). Additionally, it can be used as a secondary means for de-rating equipment to lower ton capacities. Installation is quick for both new or retrofit chain hoists.
EASY CONNECTION
Directly attach to the dead end (stationary) part of the hoist chain and bring the electrical cable up from the LL unit to drop out the “UP” contactor or another signal to control the hoist. The hoist will only be lowered (up is not allowed) until the “overload” condition is corrected. LL units help to reduce hoist maintenance and repair costs.
PRESET AT FACTORY OR SIMPLE LOCAL ADJUSTMENT
Commonly, the LL chain hoist unit is ordered with factory PRESET load setting, or they can be set in the field with a known trip weight. The popular PRESET option can reduce the need for onsite test weights.
STANDARD N/C (normally closed electrical switch)
The LL units are stocked with about a 10' (3m) standard 2-wire control wiring with a Normally Closed (N/C) output.
REQUIRED DATA
Required information: actual rope diameter, the number falls of chain, the presence of a "dead end" stationary portion of chain, hoist full load rating in Lbs, the percent of hoist max rated load for the trip setting or the actual load in lbs. With that information, an LL chain unit can be properly selected.
USE OUR HANDY CHAIN OR ROAP LOAD SETTING CALCULATOR
First, select the device for the hoist at maximum full Load (which is the 100% load trip) to select for the best device. Then use a percentage of that load to determine the trip point you wish to finally set the device. To determine the chain load setting use the LOAD SETTING CALCULATOR, for handy online calculation. It is important to have the actual rope diameter. Full Load # lbs divided by the # of falls of chain equals the load seen on every single piece of chain (chain load). That chain load is what ISI® will preset the device for the popular SETTING option. In any event, It is always important to calculate the chain load properly and make sure the chain will fit the device.
The LL unit is not meant for use as a scale.
This hoist load limiting device adds a new level of reliability to cranes, hoists and similar products from overload conditions. It can also be utilized as an additional means of quickly de-rating equipment to lower ton capacities when it is required. Installs quickly in new or retrofit overhead wire chain hoists or winches. No special tools required. Simply attach to the dead end (stationary) part of the chain and bring the electrical cable up to the control to drop out the “UP” contactor or other signal to control the hoist .
The hoist can now only be lowered until the “overloaded” condition is corrected. The overload setting is adjustable in the field with a known weight. Typically they are preset at ISI for quick installation (add setting option). Three models of chain hoist load limiter to choose.

Not to be used as a crane scale. This hoist load limiting device adds a new level of reliability to cranes, hoists and similar products from overload conditions. Installs quickly in new or retrofit overhead wire rope/chain hoists or winches. No special tools required. The hoist can now only be lowered until the “overloaded” condition is corrected. Manufactured from high tensile aircraft type aluminum, they are very compact. A heavy duty micro-limit switch is used for the mechanical overload trip. The overload setting is easily adjusted on the back. A protective removable housing contains the load limit adjustment in the field. The housing is powder coated and electro-statically applied to 50-75 microns oven cured at 200 degrees centigrade for 20 minutes to obtain high anti-corrosion resistance and durability. Seven models to choose from for use on small hoists all the way to 250 tons or more. Pre-set available.

The LL unit is not meant for use as a scale. Industry Solutions International, Inc. devices are NOT sold as safety devices and are not marketed as safety devices. They are sold only as a secondary method of making the hoist or other equipment have less maintenance. They should not be relied upon for safety concerns for either persons or material.
