The LL28 is second in the series of six sizes. The LL28 range is for wire cable diameter through approximately 7/8"+ - also available in equivalent metric cable diameters.
- Wire Rope diameters: .38"-.57"; 10-14mm (.57" is 29/32")
- trip setting: 3300lbs to 5600 lbs (2540 Kg) Note if less than 3299 lbs required....
- 2-5% full load accuracy or better.
- Rope load is not the tonnage of the Hoist. It is the part of the load seen on one "fall" of rope. Please multiply the number of falls of rope time the rope load setting to obtain a trip point for your hoist.
- When tripped the N/C (normally closed) contact opens in your UP direction allowing only DOWN motion to correct an overload.
The LL load limiting device adds a new level of reliability to hoists. Can be adjusted to trip the up direction of the hoist motion upon reaching a pre-determined set point. Additionally, it can be used as a secondary means for de-rating equipment to lower ton capacities. Installation is quick in for both new or retrofit overhead wire rope hoists or winches.
EASY CONNECTION
Directly attach to the dead end (stationary) part of the hoist rope and bring the electrical cable up from the LL unit to drop out the “UP” contactor or another signal to control the hoist. The hoist will only be lowered (up is not allowed) until the “overload” condition is corrected. LL units help to reduce hoist maintenance and repair costs.
HIGH STRENGTH
These devices are manufactured from high tensile aircraft aluminum. The housing is electrostatically powder coated to 50-75 microns thickness and oven cured at 200 degrees centigrade for 20 minutes which gives the unit high anti-corrosion resistance and extreme durability. A heavy duty micro-limit switch is used for the mechanical overload trip. Commonly, the LL unit is ordered with factory PRESET load setting, or they can be set in the field with a known trip weight. The popular PRESET option can reduce the need for onsite test weights.
PRESET AT FACTORY OR SIMPLE LOCAL ADJUSTMENT
The overload setting is adjusted on the back with a fine precision locking set screw. A protective removable housing protects the load limit adjustment setting.
A ULS Upper Limit Switch option is available for the device. It is mechanically attached LL unit. This helpful option eliminates the need to physically mount the ULS unit on the hoist body.
STANDARD N/C
The LL units are stocked with about a 10' (3m) standard two-wire control wiring with a Normally Closed (N/C) output. Alternatively, a three-wire option is available which is retrofitted at the factory adding the Normally Open (N/O) contact. The three-wire has both N/C and N/O.
REQUIRED DATA
Required information: actual rope diameter, the number falls of rope, the presence of a "dead end" stationary portion of wire rope, hoist full load rating in Lbs, the percent of hoist max rated load for the trip setting or the actual load in lbs. With that information, an LL unit can be properly selected.
First, select the device for the hoist at maximum full Load (which is the 100% load trip) to select for the best device. Then use a percentage of that load to determine the trip point you wish to finally set the device. To determine the rope load setting use the LOAD SETTING CALCULATOR for a handy online calculation. It is important to have the actual rope diameter. Full Load # lbs divided by the # falls of rope equals the load observed on every piece of rope (rope load). That rope load is what ISI® will preset the device for the popular SETTING option. It is very important to calculate the rope load properly.
The overlap of cable sizes and settings seen in the LL charts (rope load settings and clamp sizes) allow for the selection of devices for even heavier duty use.
The LL unit is not meant for use as a scale. Industry Solutions International, Inc. devices are NOT sold as safety devices and are not marketed as safety devices. They are sold only as a secondary method of making the hoist or other equipment have less maintenance. They should not be relied upon for safety concerns for either persons or material.
